Programme Structures & Selection

Senior Men/Senior Women/Junior Men/Junior Women

The Senior Men, Senior Women, Junior Men & Junior Men sections will follow a 2 year cycle culminating in the World Skate Games (WSG), with the next WSG schedules for 2026.
Teams will also attend European Championships in years in between if logistically possible. Junior Men & Junior Women will include players eligible in Year 1 (European Championship) that would age out for Year 2 (WSG)

In these categories, there are no open tryouts. Instead players are invited by coaches to training squads for day and weekend camps throughout the cycle. Invites based on previous national team play, domestic play and club coaches recommendations. Players can be added to the squad at any time.

Travelling team(s) for competition are then selected from the training squad.

Players will remain part of the training squad across the full 2 year cycle with the exception of failing to meet expectations and code of conduct.

Under 17

The Under 17 section will follow a 1 year cycle culminating in the European Championships each year.

At least 2 open development/assessment sessions will be held for players within the age bracket. These will include skill assessment as well as development of skills and strategies. These are open to all players that meet criteria even if not interested in travelling.

Travelling team & reserves selected based on development sessions and domestic play.

Training camps will then be scheduled prior to competition.

Masters (Over 38)

The Masters section will follow a 1 year cycle culminating in the Masters World Cup each year.

Players invited to register interest and if necessary assessment session(s) will be held.

Travelling team then selected and limited training sessions to be scheduled.

Players responsible for booking their own travel & accommodation.

Finance

SPONSORSHIP PACKAGES AVAILABLE

As inline hockey or roller sports are not yet recognised by Sport Ireland we receive no financial assistance from the government. This means that all costs have to be funded by ourselves.

The association is committed to financially assisting as much as possible, but we need to be economically sustainable. Therefore unfortunately the majority of costs will fall on the players and their families. However, we will organise fundraising events and source as many sponsors as possible to ensure this cost is kept to a minimum. Players are also afforded the option to obtain personal sponsorship.

All travel and equipment costs for Championships will be paid at cost and payments will be requested soon after final team selection.

Timeline:

  • Within 2 weeks of selection/reserve list all players must pay the noted deposit.
  • Other payment deadlines as determined by management staff
  • 1 month prior to competition all fees from players must be paid.
